Howl
A little more than fifty years ago, Allen Ginsberg's poem "Howl" was published. This film celebrates that poem. One thread is an interview Ginsberg gave about creativity, life and this poem in particular. Ginsberg is played by James Franco. Another thread is the obscenity trial ignited by the publication of the poem. And the third is the actual poem, read by Franco and accompanied with animation. And music.

The Kids Are All Right
Lisa Cholodenko's next film. This is the synopsis
from its screening at Sundance:
A couple, Nic and Jules (Annette
Benning and Julianne Moore), live with their teenage children,
Joni and Laser (Mia Wasikowska and Josh Hutcherson).
As Joni prepares for college, her younger brother pesters her for
a big favor—help him find their biological father. She makes a
call to the sperm bank; the bank, in turn, calls Paul (Mark Ruffalo)
and asks him if he’s willing to meet his daughter. He agrees, and
a complicated new chapter begins for the family.
We'll be recording in April. The film wil be released
by Focus Features in July. |
